Description

Hello, L'atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale this splendid Jaguar MK2 3. 8 in an elegant combination of Old English White and burgundy interior. The MKII was the fastest saloon car of its time, spacious, luxurious and ruggedly efficient, thanks in no small part to its renowned XK engine. Whether you're looking for a wedding coach, a historic rally car or a Gentleman Driver's car, the MK2 can do it all, and the car we're offering can be adapted to suit your specifications. The car we are offering for sale is without doubt the most beautiful we have ever seen. We don't often use the term "concours state", but we have to admit that 30 years on, this one still fully deserves it! This MKII was acquired in 1991 by Joel Corroy (ECA), a Jaguar specialist from Vesoul, who restored it completely and used the car as a demonstration of his expertise and the quality of his work, as shown by the period sales brochures attached to the file. In 1994, Jean Jacques Volet, president of the Jaguar Club at the time and a seasoned collector of English cars, acquired the car and kept it until 2017. The vehicle's current owner has recently fallen in love with an E-Type and would now like to part with it. He has asked us to find a new buyer for this exceptional Jaguar. We have a detailed file on the restoration, the cost of which now easily exceeds €100, 000, as well as nearly €30, 000 of invoices relating to the improvements and maintenance carried out since then. This MKII has covered only 10, 000 km since it underwent this total restoration. Mechanically, the car performs perfectly: the engine is Matching Number and is in full health, it starts easily without noise or smoke and revs up quickly. Tuning is excellent. The block has been re-bored to accommodate new pistons and rings. The cylinder head has been rectified and all its components refurbished. Bearing bushes, timing gear, oil pump, etc. have all been replaced. The exhaust system has been replaced by a stainless-steel version that delivers a particularly captivating sound. The Jaguar 4-speed gearbox + Overdrive replaces the original Moss version. The unit was refurbished by Francis Trichet in 2017 and performs wonderfully, guiding and locking the gears with ease. The clutch had also been replaced and the chainring rectified on occasion. The self-locking axle has been overhauled, the seal has been renewed, and the bearings and cross-members have also been refurbished. The running gear was sandblasted and epoxied when the vehicle was restored, and the silent blocks were replaced in 2017 with new polyurethane versions that are firmer. The whole system behaves well and is a real bonus when driving. Braking has also been improved, with a Coopercraft 4-piston caliper kit and ventilated front discs for improved performance and endurance. The suspensions have been replaced by adjustable Spax and Sport springs to improve roadholding and limit the roll characteristic of these cars. The vehicle is fitted with VICARAGE rack-and-pinion power steering, which is very pleasant to use and makes driving more supple without being overdriven. The chromed wire wheels are in perfect condition and fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres. The entire electrical system has been refurbished and is fully functional, as is the on-board instrumentation. The igniter, dynamo and ventilation motor have also been replaced. In addition, a large amount of peripheral work has been carried out, including the replacement of all the cables, controls, nuts and bolts, bearings and brake assist systems! In short, all the parts subject to wear and tear were replaced. The body was, of course, stripped bare and sandblasted before being reworked and finished by tinning. The hollow bodies were treated with wax and the underframes were hot-dip galvanised. The body was then given a 6-coat paint finish with a polished gloss, and the alignment of the doors was adjusted. The paintwork has retained all its lustre, and the underframes, painted in the same colour as the bodywork, have simply never seen bad weather. The chromes and all the zinc-plated parts have also been treated to a high quality finish and are perfectly gleaming. The upholstery has been completely redone in Connoly leather, the frames have been painted in epoxy, the foams replaced and everything has been perfectly adjusted. The...
