*** VEHICLE RESERVED*** Bentley Mark VI Sports Saloon James Young 4L1/ 4 of 1949, with James Young aluminium bodywork, drawing number C11, one of the finest designs from the James Young workshops, produced in only 49 examples. This is by no means the standard factory steel saloon, which was produced in 4190 units and delivered new to the Duchess of Norfolk on 2 February 1949 at Arundel Castle in West Sussex.
Repainted in the 1980s in a colour reminiscent of the famous Bluebird seaplane of the 1950s, the car's beautiful colour scheme was matched by its splendid grey leather upholstery, which was completely redone, as was the roof lining, a few years ago at a prohibitive total cost (invoice for 18, 000 euros on file). The woodwork is superb and, above all, the car is in great shape and drives perfectly, having recently been repatriated from the UK by road and undergone a general overhaul by a specialist of the make (invoice for 3, 000 euros on file).
The steering is precise, the 4-speed manual gearbox and clutch work very well, and the recently overhauled braking system is effective. The sunroof is functional. The incomplete toolbox is in the boot, so the car has retained its aristocratic origins and is ready for new adventures on the roads of France and beyond. The car is delivered with its English registration, an import VAT of 5, 5% (on the amount of the invoice to be defined together...) will have to be paid to the customs office of your place of residence in order to obtain the 846A necessary to obtain the French registration.
