Description
Sold new in the United States in December 1958, this car ended up in Europe a few years ago. A Frenchman bought it and imported it into France, where it was restored. The restoration was carried out to a very high standard, and a few modifications were made. Originally delivered to a New York dealer in a cream exterior colour with a biscuit interior, the Frenchman had the car repainted in a correct red colour for the time. The biscuit interior was retained. A new black mohair soft top with soft top cover was also fitted at the time. As for the condition of the car, the photos speak for themselves! Technically, the car has been completely rebuilt and the original automatic gearbox has been replaced by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The brakes have been improved and the suspension has been treated with care. The brakes have been upgraded with a master servo brake. A set of adjustable spax dampers has been fitted to improve handling. 3 SU carburettors with short pipes give the right mixture and sound to the twin-cam engine. A stainless steel exhaust completes the package. The car runs and drives perfectly and handles extremely well in all circumstances, whether you're out for a drive or taking part in a rally. As for the interior of the car, the leather interior is very beautiful and has always been very well maintained. The dashboard is fitted with the original Smith dial. All the chrome is in good condition. The chroom wheels are fitted with new 205/ 70-15 Vredestein Sprint classic tyres. In addition, the car has been fitted with a chroom luggage rack, Lucas high beam headlights, a new wiring harness, a chrome spare wheel, etc. The car is still registered in France and comes with its Jagaur Heritage trust certificate.
