We offer for sale this magnificent Jaguar Type E 3. 8 L FHC Series 1.
Off the line in Coventry on 1 November 1962, it was delivered to its first owner in New York. Jaguar exported around 70% of its production to the United States at that time.
Now registered in France, its condition reflects a complete restoration carried out a few years ago. The body, stripped bare and fully stripped, was put through the rôtissoire for some heavy metalwork.
All of its mechanicals have been rebuilt: running gear, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, cooling system, ignition, carburation, wiring loom, etc.
Its original engine and cylinder head have been overhauled and mated to a Jaguar synchronised first-gear gearbox. The original Moss gearbox accompanies the vehicle.
Its paint, in the Jaguar ‘Dark Blue’ shade, is perfectly tight, the panels are well aligned, its chromes have been redone or replaced as have its wire wheels, and the body seals are new.
Its interior has also been rebuilt to new: leather, carpeting, insulation, headlining, etc.
A few photos illustrate this restoration and confirm, as does its current condition, that the work was not done by amateurs.
Of course, today this Jaguar Type E runs perfectly.
It rolls and stops in a straight line with no droning noises. Its engine starts easily when hot as well as when cold, it revs up with good oil pressure and without any smoke emissions.
The four gears of its Jaguar gearbox shift smoothly and without hiccup.
The car is equipped with an automatically and manually triggered electric fan.
Having restored and maintained many Jaguars, we have extensive knowledge of the Jaguar Type E. We only offer examples that deserve the attention of the most discerning enthusiasts.
