History
At Buick, the Electra designation referred to the top-of-the-range models, equipped with the most luxurious fittings. The number 225 referred to the car’s length: 225 inches, i. e. 5. 71 metres. Like American cars of that era, it was powered by a large 6. 5-litre V8 with 325 hp, enabling gearchanges that thrilled the young, spirited crowd of "La Fureur de Vivre".
Description
The Electra 225 we present is one of the very rare examples sold new in France. This Electra convertible has had only four owners, all Parisian except the last, a Norman. The second owner acquired it in the early 1980s, before selling it in 2000. A car enthusiast, the third owner had been seeking for many years a French example and, on purchase, the car showed only 60, 000 km. He then decided to have it restored and entrusted it to Pacific Garage, specialists in American cars. The file includes a complete set of invoices detailing the works carried out, totaling €70, 000. Subsequently, this splendid car was featured in Nitro magazine, issue 214 of 2005, on the cover.
Today displaying 83, 000 km, the car has a new engine and still retains its original interior, wonderfully preserved, and offers high-grade equipment with electric controls for many items: seats, windows, hood, antenna... It features a tasteful cruise control, a two-tone city/ highway warning, and a discreet radio with a ten-CD changer installed in the boot. This car is a true testament to the extravagance and American ingenuity of the era, as shown by its dashboard seen through a mirror placed under a wide sun visor, adjustable to the driver's height...
Grey-green metallic with a red interior, it offers the rare possibility of travelling four or five with the top down, enjoying the scenery, sun and the wild emotions of American Graffiti.
