AC COBRA CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC V8 FORD 5. 7 L OF 1990 WITH PAPERS IN ORDER, FRENCH REGISTRATION DOCUMENT & COLLECTOR'S REGISTRATION
Bodywork 427 in Le Mans blue & white as a homage to American motorsport. Its 5. 7-litre Ford small-block V8 benefits from lighter weight and responsiveness compared with its 7-litre FE Big Block older brother. The power, around 380 hp from the Windsor Ford engine here as a stroked 347 cu in, is transmitted to the wheels via a Ford Top Loader 4-speed manual with a steel SFI-Approved Lakewood clutch cover.
This Cobra is in a very beautiful state of preservation, an expertly appraised vehicle. It will impress classic car enthusiasts with its condition. For collectors; they will appreciate the technical fidelity of this replica, as its assembly approaches the original Shelby Cobras.
The Roadsters from the American manufacturer CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC are among the most faithful replicas of the mythical Cobra 427, produced by Carroll Shelby from 1963 to 1966.
Nowadays, the original myth costs between €1 and €4 million. With only 1, 000 original Cobras produced, it is evident that era Cobras remain inaccessible to many collectors.
That is why, from the late 70s and early 80s, small builders ventured into replica production.
Some brands moved away from the original model. Conversely, builders like E. R. A or CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC sought to stay as close as possible to Carroll Shelby's true Cobra.
Production limited to just 1, 400 units, high-quality materials and fittings, the brand faded away at the end of the 1990s, sealing forever the rarity of CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC round-tube chassis with a 4" (10 cm) diameter, identical to the original model.
The Windsor 302 cu in engine block was completely rebuilt, new pistons + connecting rods + crankshaft stroking to 347 cu in, i. e. 5. 7 litres with a performance cam signed Competition Cams: lift . 533" intake & exhaust, duration 244° intake & exhaust with high-performance heads and aluminium intake pipe “Dual Plane” Performer RPM Air-GAP signed EDELBROCK, Power estimated: 380 hp, aluminium ribbed black/ brushed aluminium valve covers bearing the COBRA logo, oval aluminium air filter, cooling circuit with electric fan.
Ignition box with MSD Street Fire ignition system and Unilite magnet sensor, Mallory ignition, new chrome alternator, four-barrel carburettor, twin Holley pumps, side pipes exhaust, black finish.
