Description
History of the Ferrari 308 GTB A Ferrari has a twelve-cylinder engine and is red! That was the general opinion. The six-cylinder model built in honour of Enzo Ferrari's late son already constituted the first exception, but a Bertone project, the 308 GT/ 4, followed in autumn 1973. But Ferrari fans were not very enthused by the futuristic and angular 2+2 design, and so Ferrari's in-house designer, Pininfarina, under the direction of Leonardo Fioravanti, quickly created the beautiful and elegant GTB built on the chassis of the Dino 246. After only two years and around 600 examples built, Scaglietti moved from moulds for laminated glass-fibre mats to traditional body shop press for speed of production. "The 308, like all other Ferraris, is not a car one can drive half-asleep or in passing. All control elements - steering, clutch, brakes, gearbox, accelerator - demand determination and decisiveness. It is only when one reaches one's favourite circuit that one can grasp the car's stakes. One then begins to understand the Ferrari myth. But oh, what a pleasure to drive!" The lovely lines of the 308 GTB suggest speed. The pleasure of driving is immense, the V8 purrs, growls, cries and roars. The 4 Weber double carburettors deliver a fascinating Italian crescendo, situated between Verdi and Puccini. Ferrari dissects corners in a neutral, even understeering manner, literally clinging to the road. The gear lever knob requires a bit of persistence to guide it through the open circuit, and power-assisted steering also requires "Potenza". If the Ferrari has been carefully warmed up and maintenance intervals have been observed, the V8 can reliably run more than 150, 000 kilometres. Between 1975 and 1981, 2, 897 examples of the 308 GTB were produced. What you need to know about the Ferrari 308 GTB - SSC240 offered here This Ferrari 308 GTB in "giallo fly" was delivered for the first time to the United States. There, it was driven by a single owner according to the last owner until 2007, before being imported to Germany. Unfortunately, the old historical documents were lost during import, so we cannot provide proof. In Germany, this 308 GTB was repainted red, faithful to the motto: a Ferrari must be red. The last owner sold his Ferrari to Scuderia Sportiva Colonia in 2017. It lay for a few years in a corner without being noticed, but we have now decided to restore it to its original configuration: The car has been completely stripped and repainted in its original Giallo fly colour. It is currently in the process of reassembly. At the same time, the engine and the gearbox are dismantled and all defective parts are replaced. The chassis and brakes will also be completely overhauled, as well as the electrical system. We will also modify the tachometer to European configuration. The original leather interior is in very good condition and will be preserved. In short, once the work is finished, a perfectly built Ferrari 308 GTB in a rare colour combination awaits its new owner. Summary We will spare ourselves the usual anecdotes about Magnum and Hawaiian shirts, except that you can't get a Ferrari much cheaper than with a 308 GTB. Moreover, this sports car has hardly any weak points. Service and spare parts can be purchased or guaranteed in the future by us or by our sister company Scuderia Sportiva Servizio in Dortmund at advantageous terms. Note The old American tachometer will be converted to European configuration. Once the restoration is complete, we will reset the odometer, as this vehicle will then begin its second life.
