The history:
The Jaguar XJC 5. 3 cabriolet was originally produced as a coupe at Jaguar on 29. 8. 74 under chassis no. 2G 50010 BW. This Jaguar was subsequently delivered directly to AVON-STEVENS in Warwick, one of the most prestigious coachbuilders in England. AVON-STEVENS was consulted for special Jaguar builds, both for bespoke bodies and for racing. The aim was to produce a competitive convertible to gauge the reaction of discerning customers.
The car presented at the 1976 Salone dell'automobile di Torino was a success and sold to an Italian collector. This triggered further orders in England, Scotland, Australia and Hong Kong despite the relatively high asking price, so that 11 more right-hand-drive 12-cylinder convertibles from AVON-STEVENS appeared. Even a separate brochure was published for this perfectly proportioned convertible.
Chassis no. 2G 50010 BW remained the only left-hand drive 12-cylinder convertible ever built and was registered in Rome under the plate Roma 50777D. In the 1990s, this unique cabriolet passed to its second owner.
