Description
The AC Cobra MkIV from the Brian Angliss Autokraft era, better known as the AC MkIV, is today a highly sought-after classic car, with collectors having recognised the build quality of these sports cars. Built by AC Cars at the famous Brooklands factory, it features an all-aluminium body (based on the original MkIII Cobra 427 templates) on a tubular chassis, and is equipped with a reliable and powerful Ford 302 ci V8 engine. Just over 350 examples were produced between 1982 and 1995, making it a fairly rare car.
The Cobra we are offering for sale is AK1100. We sold this car 16 years ago to a gentleman who has kept it well and who has covered around 3, 444 miles since. We bought this Cobra in 2009 with only 6, 186 miles on the clock. It was a beautiful machine, but we preferred the classic look of the Cobra 427. We therefore had the car transformed by AC Heritage to meet the renowned “Lightweight” specifications: 15-inch Hallibrand wheels instead of the standard 16-inch wheels, chrome bumpers removed, and a 427-style dashboard with classic Smiths instruments. The car is still largely in its original paint and has a fully black interior. The bonnet and the protective cover are still with the car and in perfect condition. The Cobra is registered in Belgium and is available immediately. It is well documented, including period photos of the 2010 AC Heritage conversion.
A left-hand drive AC Cobra MkIV with these specifications is not often seen on the market. This fantastic example is a true pleasure to drive and represents a safe investment thanks to its pristine condition and rarity.
