Classic Car Design presents this rare Citroën Méhari 4x4. This version was produced in just over 1, 200 units, i. e. more than 100 times fewer than the classic Méhari! How many are left today?
A few years ago, its last owner had it fully rebuilt by a specialist and took the opportunity to replace the bodywork with a four-seater version. Since then, it has covered only a few hundred kilometres.
Externally, the Méhari 4x4 is recognisable by its wheel on the bonnet and its tubular bumpers. This example, owing to the work carried out, presents a near-new appearance, including the entire fabric cover, frame included.
Inside, the upholstery is new, as is the entire body, so only the instrumentation and controls remain in very good original condition. Only the tachometer is not functional.
Mechanically, the two-cylinder engine runs perfectly, it starts at the first turn of the key! The clutch is light, gears shift easily, the disc brakes are effective. The suspension is nicely supple. Nothing surprising – almost everything has been overhauled or replaced with new parts.
This beautiful Méhari 4x4 is a true collector, a low-production car and represents a kind of simple, lightweight and efficient vehicle that no longer exists…
