Classic Car Design presents the Lotus Seven Series 2 "678 LBJ"! It's from 1962. It arrived in France several decades ago and has been maintained and preserved with maximum original components – a Seven in a state of rare authenticity. The car comes with an invoice file dating back nearly 30 years. The original registration book is present and lists all the English owners, including the first owner who was an RAF pilot... Its last French owner kept it for over 20 years.
Externally, this car displays elements that have sometimes been restored, renovated or remain in their original condition, which gives it tremendous charm. The paintwork, which has been polished, nonetheless shows the marks of time, particularly crazing on the wings, but this doesn't diminish the car's fine appearance. All the accessories are in excellent condition. The car is equipped with a hood, side-windows and a tonneau cover.
Internally, the upholstery is in excellent condition. You sit on a bench seat! The dashboard is completely original and beautifully patinated, and all the instruments function. When you lift the carpets and seats, you can see that the aluminium panels are original.
Mechanically, it's the little 997cc (105E) engine that sits under the bonnet, inherited from the Ford Anglia, bearing in mind that this little machine weighs just 430kg! It's worth noting that the chassis has never been touched – it's perfectly original. The car has recently had a service and runs perfectly in every respect.
This Lotus Seven is among the cars featured in Andrew Morland's book "Lotus Seven and Caterham" and you can also find it in issue 228 of Auto Retro from January 2000!
