We are pleased to offer you this superb 1978 Porsche 911 3. 0 SC, restored in the spirit of the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2. 7, whose aesthetic codes and general evocation it recaptures with great accuracy. Behind this creation lies a genuine 911 SC, carefully restored, resting on a sound and coherent base, whose mechanics have undergone a thorough overhaul. This is not simply a car with RS-inspired looks, but an example that has benefited from extensive technical work, carried out with respect to its original definition, retaining its original cubic capacity and its original gearbox. Presented in a beautiful Tangerine Orange colour, combined with an interior in black and white fabric featuring the famous Porsche 'Pepita' motif, this 911 is immediately seductive in its presentation, which is both sporty and bright, and particularly evocative of the great Porsches of the 1970s. The 2, 994cc flat-six engine, type 930/ 10 with K-Jetronic fuel injection, has been completely overhauled while retaining its original cubic capacity. The overhaul covered a large number of internal and peripheral components, including replacement of the connecting rod bearings, bearings and intermediate shaft, both timing chains and their pads, seal pockets, numerous studs, special bolts and nuts, spark plugs, overhaul of the type 3. This mechanical restoration was accompanied by extensive machining and inspection work, including machining of the block and cylinder heads, inspection of the shaft line, rectification of several components, adjustment of various ducts and thorough cleaning of the assembly. The engine was then put through its paces after restoration, producing 210 bhp, and the original Type 915 gearbox was also rebuilt. It underwent a complete overhaul, with dismantling, specific cleaning, metrology and replacement of numerous worn parts, including the seal pocket, differential and shaft bearings, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th synchros, and the 1-2 balladeur ring. Aesthetically, this 911 takes up the most emblematic attributes of the Carrera RS. The famous ducktail on the bonnet is the model's visual signature. The widened rear wings are fitted with genuine 7-inch Fuchs wheels, rather than mere replicas, while the front end faithfully reflects the styling cues of the classic 911s, with their specific wings and small air vents. The bumper and bonnet are also very much in the spirit of the Carrera RS, while the engine bonnet grille bears the inscription 2. 7, a nod to the icon from which it takes its inspiration. The cabin has also been treated in the right spirit. The door opening straps are reminiscent of the RS versions, the heating control between the seats is in keeping with the architecture of the period, and the Momo Prototipo steering wheel blends in perfectly with the rest of the interior, adding a touch that is both sporty and understated, yet very pleasant to use.
On the road, this 911 handles particularly well, with a well-balanced chassis, slightly lowered suspension for greater driving precision, and braking that lives up to the model's reputation. The 911 Carrera RS 2. 7 is one of the most distinctive Porsches in history, immediately recognisable by its appearance, its iconic rear wing and its unique character. The spirit of this car has been successfully recreated in this example, while retaining the original mechanical base and engine capacity of a 3. 0 SC, which has been faithfully restored, thus offering a particularly interesting synthesis of style, authenticity, performance and driving pleasure.
