Description
We are pleased to present this 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL “Pagode”, offered in European cabriolet configuration with a navy blue hardtop, in an elegant Blanc Papyrus 717 G and navy interior combination. Its last owner acquired it eight years ago and has kept it meticulously serviced.
Produced in the mid-1960s by Mercedes-Benz, the 230 SL inaugurates the legendary “Pagoda” line. It is powered by a 2, 306 cc inline-six developing 150 bhp, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox delivering power to the rear wheels — an iconic setup, combining driving ease, mechanical pleasure and timeless elegance.
The bodyshell, built on a unibody construction, underwent a full restoration in 2010–2011. It is now presented in excellent condition. The wheels, body-colour painted with chrome flanges and navy blue centres, harmonise perfectly with the overall configuration. They are fitted with Michelin tyres.
The interior, restored during the same period, faithfully preserves the original layout. It features navy blue vinyl upholstery in very good visual condition, carefully preserved trim, and its period Blaupunkt radio.
The navy mohair soft top as well as the original hardtop, in the same shade, complete the ensemble harmoniously.
Mechanically, the M127 engine, in line with the model shown, was overhauled in 2018 with the installation of a new cylinder head suited to the use of unleaded fuel. The running gear and braking system were restored in 2010–2011 and then overhauled again in 2018.
The vehicle is registered on a French collection (historic) plate.
Technical inspection valid, maintenance invoices available, as well as a copy of the original manual.
Part exchange possible on a sports car or a collection vehicle.
Full photo and video dossier available on request.
