Description

This Porsche 356A T1 has been fully restored with a continuous focus on quality. Below is an overview of the main work and improvements carried out: Engine: The engine displacement was increased to 1, 720 cm³ in 2016 and it has hardly been driven since. Although this is not a “matching numbers” model, high-quality parts were used, including a new AA piston/ cylinder kit, 912 cylinder heads with German valves, 912 rocker arms and a new Webcam camshaft. The engine is equipped with NOS 40 mm Italian Weber carbs with Vintage Speed stainless air filters and an original silver-painted Porsche throttle linkage. In addition, it features an Abarth four-pipe stainless steel exhaust, stainless steel heater ducts, a 12 V alternator and a new voltage regulator. The Fram oil filter housing has been fully restored in its original orange paint and all engine panels have been satin black thermolacquered. The engine bay is finished with Pre-A-pillar trims. Compression ratio: 9. 0:1. A technically superior, ready-to-run preparation worthy of a show.

Transmission and chassis: The gearbox has been completely rebuilt with new bearings and synchroniser rings (numbers non-matching). The axles are powder-coated, equipped with new German wheel bearings, monobloc axle boots and all collars have been replaced. Sachs dampers and a slightly lowered rear axle ensure a sports-inspired stance, in harmony with the front. The steering system has also been renewed with a reconditioned ZF steering box, new steering tie rods, kingpins, anti-roll bar bushings and steering linkage. The aluminium brake drums have been reconditioned and are factory-spec. The braking system has been completely overhauled with new wheel cylinders, brake lines, brake linings, master cylinder and handbrake cables. Ready for dependable, enjoyable driving.

Interior: The interior has been retrimmed in the car’s original red. The Speedster replica seats have been retrimmed by Autos International in California, with red finish and plaid inserts. They are mounted on tilting and sliding metal frames (originally wood) with stamped chrome rails. The rear bench seat and door panels were also produced by Autos International. Red German loop-pile carpet covers the entire cabin, including behind the seats. There is also a German headlining and sun visors. The roof rails/ upper door tops are powder-coated in the original red/ bordeaux to match the car’s original steel finish. The original steering column has been retained and the steering wheel professionally restored, notably with a reproduction Porsche horn button bearing the emblem. The original ignition switch and the square door handles have been restored to complete the set. A beautifully finished interior, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Exterior: The car is painted in marine blue metallic, the original 1957 colour. The paint and finishes were carried out by Cosmos Collision, a Porsche-approved workshop. The left door hinge has been preserved in its original paint as a reference; the rest of the bodywork has been repainted with precision. It is equipped with European bumpers and low bumper guards as original. It features an original Sigla windscreen, European Hella headlights with period markings and new rear lights with European lenses. All chrome parts are polished or triple-chromed by Alberta Plating. The fuel tank is dated and coated in satin black epoxy paint. All rubber seals and window seals have been replaced. It is fitted with an anodised hood wing, an original-replica as-new, and reproduction wiper arms with matching blades. The wiper motor has been rebuilt and converted to 12 V. The car sits on Vintage 190 aluminium wheels.
