Description
Lea Francis 14HP Sports from 1949 in concours condition, one of 137 built, of which around 40 survive.
The 14 cv Sport is regarded as one of the most modern sports cars of its era, recalling the BMW 328 and the Jaguar XK120, although the latter wasn’t available to buy until a few years later.
Despite the low production numbers, the 14HP Sports was highly regarded at the time, and Lea Francis supplied multiple chassis to Connaught Engineering to serve as the basis for their L-type sports cars. The engines were also developed by Connaught for use in their successful A-Type Formula 2 racing cars.
The Lea Francis was designed pre-war, with a beam front axle and an aluminium-on-ash body construction. However, it’s very well engineered and a great car to drive. The Girling rod brakes were among the best of their day.
The car is sold with its customs clearance certificate and FFVE certificate.
