This Jaguar 240 saloon is one of the last produced by Coventry, delivered new on 22 March 1969 by Wadhams Limited in Southampton to its first owner, Thomas Sinclair & Co Ltd, in London. Chassis 1J 42 42 DN, engine 7J 57063-8 — the most sought-after configuration of the MK2 lineage: right-hand drive, original four-speed manual gearbox with Laycock overdrive, and chrome-spoked wheels. The 2, 483 cc XK six-cylinder, fitted with the straight-port cylinder head inherited from the Type E, develops 133 bhp and powers this saloon with the characteristic smoothness of Coventry's great six.
What truly distinguishes this car is its original documentation file, entirely preserved since leaving the factory — a collection that has become almost impossible to find on the market: period Jaguar Owner's Service Policy signed by the selling dealer, original Jaguar 240 owner's handbook and maintenance manual, British Leyland directory of Jaguar dealers in the United Kingdom, Kenneth Ball's Autobooks workshop manual, maintenance history and invoices preserved.
