Description
* Porsche 928 "Series 1" (1979) – Under 80, 000 original miles – Clear history**
Passionate enthusiast selling a magnificent and rare Porsche 928 Coupé from November 1979 (Chassis no. the details below). This is one of the very last examples of the legendary "First Series" (Series 1), the historic model voted "Car of the Year 1979". It's a real gem. This vehicle stands out for its exceptionally low original mileage of 75, 821 km (certified in 2023, barely driven and stored in a closed garage since).
Key specifications: Engine: 4. 5L V8 (M28/ 02) with 240 bhp, fires up instantly, sounds perfect. Transmission: Original 3-speed automatic gearbox. Exterior colour: Black (Schwarz A1 / Paint code 700 9 2).
Interior: Original black fabric seats with burgundy piping, original 3-spoke steering wheel.
Equipment: Original "telephone" design 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-outlet exhaust system, space-saver spare wheel with compressor, complete tool kit (including original crank and tow ring). No sunroof (structural rigidity preserved).
History and maintenance: Third original owner (known family history: first owner purchased from official SONAUTO Paris dealership). The vehicle has been regularly serviced for worry-free driving: 2011/ 2012: Complete timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, filters, engine oil and battery service. Full exterior respray. 2013/ 2014: Exhaust system replacement (manifolds and intermediate pipes), four new brake hoses fitted (Goodyear), replacement of CV joint gaiters (gearbox side) and complete brake fluid flush with DOT3.
Storage: Always kept under cover in a dry, locked underground garage. Battery maintained with a spare on hand.
Points to address for "Concours" condition: The car is sound and runs well, but to be completely transparent, a few details typical of 928s from this era remain to be refined by its future owner:
Mechanics: An automatic gearbox overhaul/ seal service is advisable (slight slippage when hot on 3rd gear and minor seepage from the O-ring seal, a known issue on this model). Note: I'm including a second complete automatic gearbox purchased from a parts bank. Two additional wheels with Series 2 928 rims. I'm also including four winter tyres.
Interior: Seat fabric reupholstered with original pattern by a professional trimmer, natural wear on passenger side, air conditioning non-functional.
Electrics: I'm providing two electrical panels with spare contactors and wiring.
Aesthetics: The 2011 respray shows a "peach skin" effect in places, warranting professional polishing or refinishing for the most discerning.
French registration document in my name.
Sound vehicle, no structural corrosion, perfect for a 1970s GT collector or a discerning Youngtimer enthusiast concerned with mileage.
MOT: The vehicle currently has a valid classic vehicle MOT. For the sale and in accordance with regulations, a new specific "classic vehicle" MOT of less than 6 months will be carried out on the day of transaction. MOT from 15/ 08/ 2023 valid until 14/ 06/ 2028.
Price: €36, 500 (justified by the rare mileage, spare gearbox provided, and all included accessories). Initial contact by message only. Time-wasters and professional dealers need not apply.
