Description
The Ferrari BB (acronym for "Berlinetta Boxer") was produced between 1973 and 1984. It was the first Ferrari equipped with a flat-12 engine mounted in the centre, thus replacing the front-engined Daytona. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti during his time at Pininfarina, this car represented a radical departure for Ferrari. A production car with a mid-mounted engine was then considered too difficult to handle for normal road use, and for this reason it took many years for engineers to convince Enzo Ferrari to adopt this configuration on a production model. Thanks to the growing success of mid-engined racing cars, the BB was finally ready in the early 70s. After 11 years of production, the BB/ BBi was replaced by the Testarossa.
This example was sold new in Italy by Ferrari dealer Cesarmeccanica in Salerno. Following its registration in Italy, the Ferrari had only one owner from the factory until 2014, when it was purchased by a Dutch dealer specialising in high-end Italian sports cars. The car then underwent a complete overhaul, including work on the brakes, suspension and steering system, as well as a thorough inspection of the engine and gearbox. In 2015, the Ferrari was repainted in its original colour "Bianco", which is extremely rare. In 2016, the car was sold to a Belgian collector, who has owned it since. This Ferrari is in superb condition and, as it has been driven very little over the past ten years, a full service is recommended. We can arrange this for the future owner at cost price.
The Ferrari 512 BBi is attracting renewed strong interest in the collector car market, and examples in unusual colours are particularly sought after. This car ticks all the boxes and is simply waiting for a new owner.
