AC Cobra 427 SC ERA from 1986
History
Motors Corner is delighted to present this exceptional Cobra 427 Semi Competition, built on an authentic ERA chassis, dating from 01/ 01/ 1986. It is of excellent build quality and registered in France with a French collector's registration document. An FFVE certificate is available with the vehicle. It currently displays 7, 550 miles on the odometer, approximately 12, 150 km.
Maintenance & Service History
The car has recently undergone workshop work for several improvement and overhaul interventions, totalling €10, 124, including notably:
- Removal/ refitting of the inlet manifold, vapour blasted
- Removal/ refitting and adjustment of the rocker cover rail
- Installation and adaptation of the dual carburettor
- Engine oil change (8L Motul 20W50) and coolant change (10L)
- Replacement of various engine gaskets
- Modification of the pedal box and carburettor linkage
- Replacement of three master cylinders, front brake pads, brake system bleed
- Replacement of brake and coolant hoses
- Replacement of all 8 spark plugs
- Installation of an additional fuse holder, relocation of the ignition coil
- Replacement of the starter battery
- Fabrication of a brake light switch bracket
- Carburettor tuning on the dyno
A dyno run in 2026 confirmed 498 bhp and 717 Nm of torque.
Mechanical Condition:
The original Ford V8 Big Block is fed by two Holley dual-body carburettors, paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox. The car is equipped with a complete Wilwood braking kit. The entire mechanical package has benefited from a comprehensive overhaul as detailed above, with final dyno testing in 2026.
Interior Condition:
The cabin is trimmed in ribbed black leather, with a roll cage, Simpson 4-point harness, wood-rimmed chrome steering wheel bearing the AC logo, and a dashboard equipped with full period instrumentation, enhanced with a signed plaque.
Exterior Condition:
The bodywork, in its navy blue finish with double stripes, is adorned with the characteristic "427 Cobra" badging and competition flags. It rides on Cobra-style spoked wheels, with typical chromed side exhaust pipes of the model.
