Description
TD Classic Cars offers this 1972 Porsche 911 2. 4 E Targa, presented in a stunning Albert Blue over red interior combination with Madras-style check cloth seat inserts.
This example combines several features highly prized by enthusiasts of early 911s: 1972 model year with the external oil filler flap known as the "Ölklappe", documented matching-numbers engine and gearbox, configuration confirmed by Porsche certificate, and a substantial history file tracing a significant part of the car's life.
A genuine 2. 4 E "Ölklappe"
Unique to the 1972 model year, the well-known oil filler flap on the right rear wing is today one of the most sought-after identifying features of this generation.
The 911 E pairs its 2, 341 cc flat-six, with mechanical fuel injection producing 165 bhp, to a five-speed manual gearbox, offering a remarkable balance between the T and the more radical S.
The Porsche certificate confirms the Albert Blue paint, code 18, and Red Leatherette trim, code 43, as well as the original engine and gearbox numbers.
The numbers on the car were recorded and photographed during an inspection and match the Porsche certificate: engine no. 6220826 and gearbox no. 325169, with documented matching numbers.
A documented history
The bodywork received a full repaint in 2008 in its original Albert Blue.
In 2013, the car then underwent major work at Porsche Vélizy, covering the bodywork, anti-corrosion treatments and rear suspension, including removal and refitting of the powertrain.
Its extensive invoice file also documents numerous mechanical works, including in-depth work on the mechanical fuel injection, notably overhaul of the pump, replacement of all six injectors and adjustment and synchronisation of the system.
A singular history
This car was selected to feature in an official Porsche Classic / Porsche Classic Partner publication.
It was also the subject of a multi-page feature in RS Magazine, including a road test and detailed presentation of the car.
Finally, this 911 won the Concours d'État - Best of Show award at Le Mans Classic 2014. The original trophy accompanies the car.
Recorded mileage
The HistoVec report tracks the mileage progression from 70, 400 km in 1998 to the latest reading of 91, 422 km in February 2024, with a consistent evolution that is corroborated by the inspections.
The car is accompanied by its Porsche certificate, two inspection reports, an extensive invoice file, the HistoVec record, Porsche Classic documentation, the RS Magazine feature and the Le Mans Classic 2014 trophy.
