Description
A small GTi that has become rare, with bags of character and genuine personality.
The Rover 114 GTi is today far less well known and sought after than certain Peugeot or Renault hot hatches of the same era. Yet this lack of recognition does not reflect the car's appeal.
Beneath its small stature and typically British look lies a mechanical package that was particularly interesting for its time. Its Rover K-Series engine, all-alloy, light and modern in its design, contributes to the lively, endearing character of this little GTi.
It is precisely this disconnect that gives it its charm today: an unusual GTi that has become hard to come across, and which probably deserves more recognition in the youngtimer scene.
This example has had a very extensive mechanical refresh:
• Timing belt
• Clutch
• New sump
• Full engine gasket set
• Valve stem seals
• Lapped valves
• Skimmed cylinder head
• Delco distributor cap
• Electrical wiring replaced
• New spark plugs
• Driveshaft joint
• Front brake discs
• Front brake pads
• Exhaust
• Oil filter
• Air filter
• Water pump
• Oil pump
• All hoses renewed
• New battery
• Boot struts
• Engine mount
• New engine oil
• New gearbox oil
• New coolant
And I'm certainly forgetting some.
Bodywork in very good condition, approximately 98%. No rust.
The car is of Portuguese origin and is sold with its Portuguese logbook and Portuguese historic vehicle certificate.
A car that stands apart from the usual GTi and, in my eyes, has all the ingredients of a genuine small youngtimer with character: light, rare, original and mechanically interesting.
I am also selling separately a Rover 111 Cabriolet, as well as a Rover 114 GTi MPi engine with 57, 000 km on the clock, with all the parts needed to bring it up to date.
