The Attractions
Mercedes-Benz certainly intimidated rival car manufacturers when it launched the R107 in 1971. With its crisp, clear-cut lines and extremely comfortable cabin, on a par with the most luxurious saloons of the time, it immediately appeared as a truly impressive car in every respect and achieved great success, becoming one of the most sought-after and best-selling sports cars for almost two decades. The R107 soon became a symbol of success and good taste, in vogue in the most prestigious locations in Europe and the United States.
All R107s are excellent cars, but the 280 SL is certainly the most economical model to handle, which is why it proves to be a particularly practical classic even in everyday use, while being perfectly at ease in all circumstances and offering a high level of comfort and performance. We are therefore not surprised that these retro classics are having so much success lately, and we expect this fine example to be no exception.
Offered in a very rare and very attractive medium colour, this 280 SL comes with its matching original hard top and displays a truly remarkable level of originality. It is an original European trim car and has received a lot of recent maintenance before being offered for sale.
