A bit of history:
1963: Carroll Shelby of AC/ Shelby Cobra fame, appoints his designer, Peter Brock (designer of the Corvette Stingray) to create an aerodynamic coupe body for the AC/ Shelby Cobra so that they could challenge Ferrari on the high speed circuits such as Daytona and Le Mans.
1964: The first Coupe is raced at Daytona, hence the moniker “Daytona Coupe”. They win their class at Le Mans and only fail to win the World GT Championship due to Enzo Ferrari allegedly cancelling the last race at Monza in fear of losing the title.
1965: The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe wins the World GT Championship with only 6 cars built, and Shelby is then drafted to the GT40 project. These 6 iconic cars have an incredible history and value.
Fast forward to 2003: Peter Brock and many of his original team design and launch a new version of the original car, with longer wheelbase, road legal, larger interior, more power, better aerodynamics and generally modernised in all respects. The Superformance Coupe was born. In the UK it was sold as a “Superformance Le Mans” due to licensing issues, but retrospectively the Shelby name was granted to all the cars.
This example, V8 RSA, was built and delivered in 2005, is one of around a dozen in the UK. It has been primarily used for sunny weekend outings and is sympathetically upgraded for occasional motorsport use. The full interior has been retained with air conditioning, carpets and alcantara headlining, making it a superb double duty comfortable GT for road trips and the occasional track/ competition.
Powertrain: Roush 402IR V8 [dyno’d at 515 hp/ 500 lbs./ ft. torque]. It's outfitted with: TWM/ Borla 8-stack Electronic Fuel Injection on polished throttle bodies, Roush polished aluminum valve covers, polished K&N filters. All SS (stainless steel) braided lines.
Chassis, suspension & brake particulars: fully-independent suspension and purpose-built ride-height–adjustable coil-over shocks, Tremec T3550 5-speed manual gearbox and Hydratrak adjustable limited-slip differential.
Rolling stock: 18”polished & painted wheels shod with Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tyres 285 rear and 255 front.
In the cockpit: leather Moto-Lita steering wheel, all Stewart Warner blackfaced instrumentation. German leather upholstery with inflatable lumbar support in the seatbacks. Alcantara accents and roof lining.
It's also equipped with: power steering, remote power door locks, high-output air conditioning.
Upgrades that are included: Ozcraft bespoke stainless steel sidepipe exhausts (replaces the heavy and inefficient standard units which exit out the rear), Performance Friction floating front brake discs, double oil catch-tanks for better breathing control.

Full custom-built roll cage to MSA specification by Gartrac, plumbed-in electrically-operated FireSense extinguisher, CarTek electric cut-offs, STACK Classic chronometric-style tachometer with tell-tale button, Tillett carbon fibre racing seat and in-date 6-point Luke FIA harness, fuel swirlpot with additional 044 high power fuel pump, custom Cobra Valley R/ T coilover springs with dual-adjustable bump and rebound, bespoke set of Image Classic race wheels with 315 rear and 265 front Toyo R888 tyres. With these options the car is MSA race legal and is a class contender.
