Description
Suzuki Katana GSX1000SZ No. 48
One of the original and very rare 1000cc versions of the Katana manufactured in 1982 in limited numbers. This is a UK original bike with a complete owner history.
Produced in limited numbers to meet the regulations for racing this particular bike is one of the very early bikes produced being chassis / frame No. 48.
The 1000cc versions of the Katana are identified by unique VIN plate chassis/ frame and engine numbers. These need to be carefully checked. The 1000cc bikes most identifiable difference from the 1100cc Katanas are the use of different carburettors; with the 1000cc Katana’s having VM32SS Mikuni round-slide carburettors. These were used on the 1000cc bikes for increased performance with a faster throttle response.

This bike was first registered on the 4th of August 1982 and has had 7 previous owners. It is exceptionally original having been in storage for most of its life and having completed a total of only 10, 150 miles. The seat is in excellent condition - Katana seats with their original two tone Matt fabric in condition such as this are extremely difficult to find.
The exhausts on the bike are a bespoke replica exhaust system fabricated and installed to match the original design.
Importantly the fairing is the original correct plastic moulded fairing (not the fibreglass reproductions you will typically find installed on these bikes).
The bike is essentially extremely original and has just had a meticulous rebuild of the all the brakes to correct Suzuki original brake hose specifications. Restoration of the rear shock absorbers / suspension has just recently also been completed and refitted.
