Description
Hi I have for sale my beloved Rover 216 GTI DOHC Hatchback which I have owned for 2 years. 5 speed manual 1. 6l FWD. R8 shape, great looking 90s hatchback, I think they look much nicer than the modern bubble cars. Very reluctant sale but I have to fund a bigger car.
Comes with loads of history. documented low mileage at 69k (see pic). It has the DOHC Honda engine from factory - the 137bhp d16a8/ 9. All original, electric sunroof, 2 keys, no mods, collectors - original dealership plates, all documents including original rover booklet and loads of old mots etc, new headliner one year ago - interior looks almost as new, have original factory radio in box, original alloys, electric front windows, power steering, engine and gearbox are sound, new clutch recently, half leather grey and tan interior in great condition. Radio, AC, anti-chip coat underneath so no rust there, recent service (oil change/ belts etc) and MOT until 2019 (replaced windscreen wiper linkage), 4 tyres replaced 3 months ago. Unfortunately there is a small dent/ crease (see pic) on drivers side rear quarter (someone decided to park on my car, it will be an easy repair) but you cant really notice it unless in a certain light - but other than that the original paintwork is in good all round condition and buffs up very nicely. This drivers side dent is the only thing which needs seeing to on the car, other than that she's a beauty
Some rust marks here and there (small rust bubble on bottom of door and one tiny rust spot at the sill of the bonnet), it is 26 years old and has been my daily driver for the last 2 years, so its not showroom condition and needs a bit of work but she's a beautiful car with presence, she turns a lot of heads. It is also a fast appreciating modern classic and piece of British history, arguably the best modern Rover hatch from way back when, at the time it outshone the competition from VW, Renault etc.
Great all round car and ready to drive away but it would definitely benefit from some tlc re paintwork - rear quart dent and rust bubble at bottom of door. I would love to see her fully done up.
She can keep up with all the modern hatchbacks. Drives like a champ, cheap insurance, good first car possibly? a project or daily for a Rover enthusiast like myself? British manufacturing but with Japanese efficiency.
These cars are becoming very rare, especially this one the DOHC 3 door, there are less than 30 left on the road in the UK! an appreciating modern classic!
