Selling on behalf of families deceased's estate, this fabulous 1968 Ford Escort.
Built at Halewood in March 1968 and then registered on the 1st of April the same year, this Ford was originally a 1600 deluxe in blue with red interior. Wind forward 50 years and the car has received an extensive restoration, including some major mechanical upgrades. These works have been done to a very high standard and apart from some very minor details; this old Escort is close to as new condition again.
Bodywork
The entire shell appears to be rust free and the underside, engine bay, boot and arches are all as clean and smart as the upper body. The bumpers and grill have been coated in gloss black, whilst the smoked headlights compliment the colour scheme. The wheels have also been painted to compliment the paintwork and the hubcaps have again been finished in gloss black with subtle Ford graphics added. Paintwork on this car is superb and the family have advised that the Escort has rarely seen any wet weather
Interior
As the bodywork, the interior is superb and has been kept close to original. The headliner looks new, as do the carpeting, whilst the seats appear to be in original condition. Dashboard again is very nice and the steering wheel appears to have also been refurbished.
Mechanical
The Escort has had a massive amount of mechanical refurbishment and upgrading. This includes the following which is covered by a full warranty
- 2-litre Pinto which has just had a full rebuild by racing engine specialists as a cost exceeding £4000 and now producing more than 140BHP.
