My outstanding 1997 Jaguar XJR has covered a very low and certified 66, 000 miles. One of the final classic 4. 0 litre Supercharged Straight Six examples, it is in exceptional original condition with beautiful metallic Carnival Red paintwork and pristine Pale Oatmeal leather interior. This car has suffered no corrosion at all (including the underside), prompting the MOT tester to comment that it is clean as a whistle underneath and in his opinion a gem of a car. Therefore I feel comfortable stating it is one of the best remaining examples. The engine bay is also as you would hope to find it with the factory toolkit still in place and the boot containing an untouched spare wheel and jack.
Built in Coventry (as were all XJR’s), this vehicle was then shipped and supplied new in Tokyo, Japan where it enjoyed caring long-term ownership. I have the extensive documented service history from the supplying Jaguar dealer (3 booklets) along with two spare keys, original sales brochure and certificates confirming provenance and mileage. It is a non-sunroof car with air-conditioning and is built to exactly the same specification as UK-supplied cars including the 153mph capable Eaton M90-supercharged 322bhp, 378lb/ ft dohc 4. 0 litre six-cylinder engine, high performance suspension and brakes, Harmon Kardon stereo, cruise control, switchable gearbox modes, electric seats/ mirrors, puddle lights, abs, factory rear sunblind and so forth.
My car also has a new MOT, new brake pads all round, a new battery and deeply-treaded sports tyres following a recent £750 maintenance check and service. Everything works correctly and it is a treat to drive with that combination of addictive supercharged power, seamless acceleration, luxury and well balanced handling that only Jaguar seem able to master. As I hope the photos show it could pass for a very young car indeed both to look at and to drive.
So in summary if you are want a damn fine Straight Six XJR, this is far superior to the usual rusty, re-painted and high mileage cars that have spent their whole lives here - I very much doubt it could be bettered, so please call me for a good old-fashioned chat if you are interested or I can email more information and plenty of pictures if you wish. I bought it early this year, but household projects and the need for a new family car mean that the funds invested are needed elsewhere.
I am in Amersham, Bucks (near M40, M25 & M1) where you are welcome to come and inspect the car and as a result of my long-standing collecting habit I do have some trusted road transport contacts who can help with delivery if required. You can contact me on 07932 six78546 although please note that I don't have great mobile reception at home, so do leave a message and I will call you back.
