1934 Austin Newbury Sports Tourer for sale.
This is perhaps the rarest and most sought-after pre-war Austin. Built on a special chassis with an aluminium coach built body (steel wings) to compete with other sportier manufacturers.
The Newbury was available in two engine sizes and this is fitted with the larger 15. 9hp engine with a special sports specification and sports gearbox.
I have owned this car for a number of years and the engine was removed in preparation of checking through but my friend’s wife has had a heart attack so plans have been stalled. The car is now stored in a garage (contrary to the photos) with the gearbox stored under the stairs in the kitchen and the cowl stored in the loft!
Very desirable 4 door 4 seater design and extremely special. Online images of the Newbury will show what can be achieved.
99% complete - missing radiator cap, headlamp, starting handle (I have another to modify) and rear bumpers if ever fitted.
