Due to family commitments and now getting a camper I have to make room and it looks as though the SAAB 96 will have to go. I am going to really miss it and want it to go to an enthusiast that can give it the time it deserves. The car is a joy to drive and is a true restomod improvement.
The car would suit either a fast road enthusiast or with very little work could be converted to rally spec.
The car is currently stored in dedicated dehumidified storage so not in a rush to sell.
Its a very solid 96 with the following spec
Engine
1710 with pinto pistons. Block was diamond bored to crank centreline at the same shop that does 6R4 engines. (around £450 just for the boring but spot on!!)
Dynamically balanced crank with correct bob weights
V6 rods and ARP bolts
Kent fast road cam and new followers
Hardened valve seats for unleaded. Valves reground and lapped.
Heavy duty valve springs.
Cross over manifold CT with jenvey throttle bodies, new pico injectors, fuel pressure regulator and DTA management (Over £2k in just these few items)
Coil pack for mapped for wasted spark
Fuel tank converted for fuel injection
Lightened flywheel with special trigger pickup
New thicker core radiator
Alloy Rocker covers
Steel balance gears to replace the fibre ones that strip
Only run on Titan fully synthetic oil
Transmission standard but never given any trouble - been commented on as the the quietist saab box ever driven
Converted lightened flywheel and clutch for diaphragm by tuners xp-racing in Sweden
New brake master cylinder
Good ridge brake and clutch hoses
New brake calipers and discs plus good rear drums and new cylinders etc.
Full new sills both sides welded
New windscreen
New Stainless steel bumpers
New Compomotive alloy wheels
As new Dunlop sport tyres
New Jetex exhaust with an extra silencer
Sport and rally steering wheel
Custom built AVO double adjustable shock absorbers
All important shock absorber mount areas that are prone to rust are fine
Only flaws
Small rear headlining
Some paintwork drivers side could do with a little Tlc - some lacquer has come away etc - Id sort if keeping but not a big job at all for body shop and very honest to present as is rather than a quick spray over.
Little scab on one seam join although very small
I know prices have risen but I'm more interested in sensible offers from someone that will use it a intended!
This is a truly unique saab with superb power of a rally twin Weber setup and sound at wide open throttle but pulls from low revs and is a joy to drive
