York Motor Company is delighted to offer for sale a beautiful short wheelbase 1987 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon 280GE M2, formerly of the Mercedes-Benz UK press team.
First registered on August the 1st 1987 and finished in Champagne Metallic (gold) over a Beige/ Brown interior, this particular example is of the highest specification and is in incredible condition for its age. The Mercedes is in exceptional condition having covered just 86, 678 miles since rolling off the production line 32 years ago, and is fitted with Mercedes’ bulletproof M110 2. 8L fuel-injected straight six petrol engine mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox and selectable 4-wheel drive. The car has had seven owners, and has covered a distance of just 10, 000 miles since 1998.
Replete with the original service manuals and a log book including a comprehensive service history with 13 service stamps, the car boasts an enviable list of options befitting a factory demonstrator. These options include: tow bar and electrics, front & rear locking differentials, heat-absorbing glass, long-range fuel tanks, front driving lamps, Recaro front seats, side-facing rear bench seats, and more.
The G-Wagon is sold with five new Cooper tyres, a recent (May 2019) service which included a fluids change and replaced spark plugs, and oil and air filters. We’ve additionally invested £1, 500 in the car, including replacing a faulty fuel sender unit, installing a four speaker sound-system with a modern Blaupunkt head-unit, replacing a temperature gauge relay alongside the replacement of a number of interior and exterior cosmetic parts, all of which are original Mercedes-Benz parts and accessories. She comes with documented history, including a stamped service book and original documentation, and a full internal and external valet detail with ceramic nano coat to provide long term protection to the paint. There are a few minor paint imperfections as one would expect on a car of this age, but otherwise she's in stunning condition and still drives smoothly and sweetly. We’re able to undertake further work on the car should the customer desire it.
