For sale is my immaculate fully restored no expense spared rd400d.
As stated this is a UK market model, not a import. the bike as taken around five years on and off to complete and as such needs to be viewed to fully appreciate the work, money and attention to detail that as gone into it. Finding a suitable matching numbers 400d, even five years ago was hard, until I found this one.
The owner had already spent a fortune and had loads of work already done, but, the divorce he was going through forced him to sell the project and I was lucky enough to aquire it.
On getting it home I totally stripped the bike and started from scratch, spending even more money, blood sweat... and the rest.
For me to detail everything here would take an age, so here is a brief run down, the engine was stripped and rebuilt by raccoon two strokes and is superb in every way, the paint was done by a vjmc specialist(including the engine casings, no rattle can finish here)many n, o, s parts including new original 1a1 exhaust system which was rechromed!, all new electrics, new suspension, every bearing and seal, calipers, master cylinders and hydraulic hoses, etc etc etc.
Please note this bike as the correct wheels for the year which seems to be a common fault on bikes for sale, and also has correct mudguard profile, handlebars etc for this model.
If it hasn't been rechromed or rebuilt it has been replaced.
This rd400d has everything a 400d should have and nothing omitted and nothing added that shouldn't be on it.
That said the only concession I've made to improve the bike is electronic ignition system, combined reg/ rec, battle axe tyres, upgraded disc pads and one tooth higher on the gearbox sprocket so as to keep the front wheel on the ground, as the motor is very lively and pulls like a train.
The bike is part of my personal collection and as such as been stored correctly and wants for nothing.
The reason for the reluctant sale is simple, I have my jawa isdt for sale( also on this site) to finance other projects but as yet had no takers, so the Yamaha is up for sale, but, if the rd400 sells I will keep the jawa.. if the jawa sells, then the rd400 will be taken off sale.
