Rare MG Midget Mk1 1963!
Registered 1/ 1/ 63 so built in 1962, GAN2. 1098cc.
Long MoT until next July, even though it’s exempt- road tax exempt too.
One of the earliest MG Midgets, it’s basically a Frogeye Sprite - this car is in the very desirable
colour combination of Old English White with full red interior.
Starts first time easily, even in the cold.
Drives very nicely and is quite responsive with its 1098cc engine. This is standard from the factory.
New exhaust box fitted and radiator. No overheating issues.
Gears select well and everything works as it should.
Lovely interior, original carpet so a little worn! Original very rare steering wheel.
Webbed Britax chrome buckle seat belts. Original seats, very supportive with good foam.
Different to later Midgets as there are no roll up windows, instead these cars have detachable side screens.
The tops of the doors curve like an MGA.
In summer the windscreen is easily detachable and you could just have an aeroscreen and goggles...
Included is an expensive red full tonneau cover which contrasts the white very nicely.
In the boot are original bags for the hood frame and tonneau sticks, along with a red 1960s travel case!
The dark grey soft top is in very good condition and doesn’t leak- it even has the original dealership sticker on the rear window!
The bodywork is strong with the odd colour match discrepancy here and there- the paint is largely original and has good patina rather than it being a show car.
The spring-hangers are incredibly solid and original. I have included a pic as an example -There are no worries in that area, either side.
Boot is solid, original white paint, boot lid rust free. Doors close nicely- the don’t have door handles on the outside- that is standard! You slide open the Perspex window & reach in to lift the lever.
The wheels are original with good chrome on the hubcaps- the chrome on the car generally is very good.
There is service history and repair bills along with the original manual and original logbook, stamped with the original owners details- the car has only had 4 previous owners and it is around 58 years old!
I have the new style V5 registration document too.
