This is a Mercedes 280 SE 3. 5 litre V8 petrol automatic right hand drive W108 series.
It has power steering, air suspension, full leather, alloy wheels and a factory sunroof.
I suppose you would call it a barn find as it has been in dry storage for several years, infact the last mot was done in 2005. Having said that it looks like someone had started to recommission it, as it has had two new front wings at some stage along with the complete underneath being painted.
After it arrived to us, we fitted a new battery, completed all the usual checks, gave it some fresh petrol and it started immediately. The engine sounds superb and does have excellent oil pressure. We have not endevoured to take the vehicle on the road, however it does move backwards and forwards in gear on our premises. The brakes also work.
It looks to be a very solid example with just just a couple of localised repairs on the under side and as previously mentioned it has all been painted.
Body wise it could actually be used as is or ideally give it a quality repaint, but it certainly seems to be very sound and rot free.
This example is fitted with the full leather interior of which is in very good condition. One or two fine cracks on the drivers side cushion but overall very good. All of the panel work, carpets, dash area and headlining are all excellent condition. Even the steering wheel is in really good order.
All chrome seems to be present and again in good original condition. rear bumper may need chroming although will probably polish up a lot better. Not sure if is supposed to have sill mouldings, if it does I have researched the net and you can get them.
We do have a current UK V5 for it. It also has its aluminium chassis and body plates attached to the front slam panel.
This is a fantastic investment opportunity particularly looking at the prices of some of the V8 powered examples, and must surely only keep going up in value.
