Descrizione
1975 Triple C. Challenger E type replica.
Advertised as a project car, for completion.
I am re-advertising this as it didn't make the reserve at auction and I am now including all the parts in the sale that I have collected over the years to make the car the best early Series 1 replica there is, for the price stated.
These parts include such things as inner door mechanisms for the correct interior door handles, correct set of dash top vents and trunking for these, a set of PL700 headlamps, full set of correct 'curly hub' refurbished painted wires, four of which have decent Pirelli tyres, other small parts and last but not least, the appropriate valuable number plate, '50 HXE' which is on a retention certificate.
It is with great reluctance that I am selling this project car due to deteriorating health, old age and impending house move. I also need something I can use immediately before I get to decrepit to drive. As I have seen something that I fancy, I have decided to re-list this rather than attempt to jeopardize my illness further by continuing with the build - a shame, because I had big plans for this car but needs must and I hope the new owner will carry the process forward as intended by myself and the original builder.
The car runs, drives stops and starts as it should, needs servicing and tune up and some minor work required for M. O. T.
This is correctly registered as a Challenger E type on the V5c. and once an M. O. T. is issued, it will qualify for historic status but will still need to be M. O. T.'d under the new legislation. It is now extremely important that these cars are correctly registered as I know of two similar vehicles that have had their registration numbers confiscated and 'Q' plates issued.
All jaguar XJ6 / E type parts, 4. 2 XK engine, correct rear suspension set-up.
I have owned this car since June, 2013, have driven it very little, as most of the time has been spent carrying out the modifications as shown here. It has been driven approx. 10k miles since original build in the early '90's when everything was re-built or new parts used. It drives like a new car with no squeaks, rattles or bumps and once finished and serviced, should do so again.
It will need the passenger seat frame completing and all the upholstery materials are included to achieve this. I will also include in the sale, re-chromed front bumper blades and the original bumper ends and grille bar.
It needs to be viewed to appreciate the authenticity and bespoke uniqueness of this car - there's no other like it!. V5 and some build / service history on file.
Please contact me via email only, if you wish to view.
There are further detailed photograhs in another link. Please ask and I will send the details to you via email.
£500 non refundable deposit on agreement of sale, balance payable by bank transfer only, prior to collection within seven days of agreed sale. ( no exceptions to this.)
This will need to be trailered as not road legal until completion, so please bear this in mind.
I would be obliged that if an arrangement has been made to view this, that I am informed beforehand that you are unable to keep the appointment.
Here is a rough summary of work needed to complete and to get ready for M. O. T. as follows:
1. Sort electrics. There's a problem with the fuse boxes as they don't always make a decent connection on the fuse contacts. Some re-wiring to lights/ flasher required as correct switch arrangement has been adopted. Everything worked fine before.
2. Finish hand brake connection under car and check adjust rear brakes.
3. Fix horn - not currently working.
4. Driver's door lock needs attention - only opens from inside.
5 Finish off-side bonnet lock ( most parts fabricated and ready).
6. Full service and tune up - car has not been driven on road for three years.
Above should get it through M. O. T. according to my local garage,
Work to finish off after:
1. Finish passenger seat.
2. Re-fit driver's door card.
3. Change original passenger door handle for matching 'E' type one (supplied).
4. Sort boot area out - ie. Re-trim and drainage.
The paint looks better than it is. It comes up reasonably well with a T. Cut and polish but there are some areas of crazing and star cracking which, long term, should be corrected. I had planned a re-spray once everything was complete. Tyres are good but old and should really be replaced.
OFFERS ARE INVITED BUT I WILL ONLY NEGOTIATE WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED POUNDS OF THIS FIGURE, SO PLEASE CONSIDER THIS BEFORE YOU VIEW. I am in no rush to sell.
A unique car with many bespoke features that could be used daily (as I had planned). It is a replica of the earliest original cars with out side bonnet locks and alloy dash (all hand made).
