Here for sale on behalf of a customer is this rarely seen Series 2a Land Rover® Lightweight, presented in hard-top configuration with cat flap back door. As can be seen from the photos, this is not a vehicle for the purist – and the current owner has spent much money and time modifying the vehicle to make it as usable as possible and for more regular motoring.
Externally, there are lots of features of note, such as the bumperettes front and rear, wheel arch extenders, rear yellow Land Rover® Mudflaps (now a discontinued item) and alpine lights in the hard top.
On the inside, there are two standard seats in the front, with rear benches to the rear area. The spare (as photographed) is stored on a dog behind the bulkhead, as it should be. There is a handy clock fitted and the heater remains with front demist, which is handy in the colder months.
Out on the road is where this Lightweight really shines – with an uprated diesel engine, and an overdrive, it can keep with modern traffic with ease. The Series 3 box’ means that you have synchromesh on 2nd gear, making it more like a modern vehicle to drive than a Series. Servo brakes give far better stopping power too.
In summary, if you are looking for a well priced, more useable Series Land Rover® with classic looks, then this could be for you. With the comprehensive upgrades fitted, it should prove to be far more reliable than a standard set up too.
