This Austin-Healey Sprite MK1 is a fantastic example of the iconic British sports car, which has been the subject of a comprehensive ten-year restoration with competition use in mind. Now fitted with a number of high-performance and modern upgrades, it would be ideal for competition use, though could also make a fun companion for warm weather weekend drives.
Key features of the car are: larger 1275 A-Series inline-four engine with single 40 Weber carburettor and lightly modified head, it has a demountable roll-over bar assembly and a strengthened chassis, along with replacement front suspension, steering assembly and shock absorbers. Lightweight fibreglass shell and body panels with a resprayed two-tone red and white finish, aluminium racing fuel tank, disc brakes, straight through exhaust system (this car makes a serious sound!), plated floors, custom-built dash with GPS speedometer, engine kill switches and push-button starter. It is supplied with a removable roll cage, plus road and race wheels. The cabin is equipped with racing seats and Luke harnesses. The car is exceptionally prepared and a real joy to look at and drive.
The car recently receivedy Dragon Automotive, Chesterfield, including engine removal, sump reseal, rocker cover reseal, front cover reseal, new gaskets, new front crank seal and replacement auxiliary fuel pump. The original scroll seal has been replaced with a 3-piece rear crank seal conversion, as well as a breather pipe adaption to the rear of the engine.
