Description
Manufactured in June 1968, YYL225G is an original right hand drive UK registered MGC roadster, and was sold to its first owner by University Motors of North West London on the 12th June 1968. The car retains the factory fitted option of wire wheels, overdrive, tonneau cover and heater and currently shows a recorded mileage of 34, 581.
Powered by a smooth straight six OHV engine of 2912cc developing 150bhp, the MGC answered the criticism that the standard MG was not powerful enough, whilst the larger engine also has the benefit of sounding fantastic. Furthermore, the recent addition of a stainless-steel sports exhaust system makes this particular example rumble like a proper British sports car.
To accommodate the larger engine, some changes were made to the bodyshell with the most obvious change being the bulge in the bonnet which was essential to clear the top of the new engine.
YYL225G is an older restoration but still presents in very nice order with deep lustrous paintwork and gleaming chrome. The interior is a particular highlight having been retrimmed in black with red piping whilst a walnut dashboard replaces the standard black one. A wind deflector has also been fitted allowing for hood down motoring with greatly reduced turbulence.
Looking through the large box file that accompanies the car, it is obvious that over the years she has been loved, cherished and maintained. Numerous invoices accompany the car together with handwritten notes from previous owners, and most telling two CD’s showing the restoration of the car. Also accompanying the car is a British motor heritage certificate and log book.
Before delivery to her new owner this delightful MGC will be serviced and inspected in our workshops and supplied with a fresh MOT certificate.
