We are delighted to present for sale this 1979 Land Rover® Series 3, presented in ex-military Drab Olive colour scheme, with green wheels and khaki canvas.
Externally, there are lots of period features such as the matching bonnet mounted spare, vintage numberplates, front military lifting eyes, free wheeling hubs and rear grabhandles. The vehicle benefits from a recent canvas and has a set of 750 chevron tyres fitted, both to increase gearing and to give a good stance. We think it gives a good ex-military look that many will appreciate!
The interior is largely standard – there are 3 front deluxe seats which are completed in green vinyl (look to be a fairly recent item). It is nice to note all three seats are belted. The rear is unfitted, with the exception of a load mat to the floor – this could house bench seats on request to bring seated capacity to 7 people including the driver for £350.
Out on the road, this Series 3 gives a pleasing period drive, aided by the larger rubber which increases gearing and free wheeling hubs to maximise economy. With the ex-military look, it turns a many heads as you drive along – from those curious to see what it is, to those who drove them in National Service and the forces!
In summary, if you are looking for a ragtop Series 3, then this could be for you. With MOT & Tax Exemption and classic insurance it should prove cost-effective to run in the longer term.
