Description
This is a late model Land Rover 80 inch supplied to the New Zealand Government in 1953. It is identical to the home market model except it has the hinged vent flap in the windscreen frame rather than the fixed panel.
This car needs a full rebuild and repair work all over. The chassis needs repairs to the front dumb irons, a replacement flywheel housing crossmember and a replacement gearbox crossmember. I have new Radford’s crossmembers. Also included is a pair of new doors, a pair of swivel housings, a new fuel tank under guard and a new fuel tank outrigger. It’s currently fitted with the rarer 1. 6 litre engine. Despite being stuck, it’s worth around 3k as a rebuild prospect. Also included is a correct 2litre engine with all ancillaries. This is largely dismantled and comes in several boxes of parts. The car is UK registered and I have the V5 in my name.
Done up nicely, this car would be worth over 30K, so there’s a lot of headroom to do something with it. It’s all there but will need some replacement parts. All the springs are broken and it doesn’t run. The steering box is broken too but could be repaired.
Sell off the 1. 6 engine to recover a few thousand and the asking price of £9950 is a bargain.
If it doesn’t sell for this, I’ll put it in storage until I’ve time to do something with it.
