Description
I've decided to sell my lovely MG 1300, as I'm just not driving it as much as I intended to when I bought it two years ago. If you don't know much about these cars, this is the sporty MG version of the popular Austin 1100/ 1300 family, code-named ADO16. It has the twin-carb 1275cc engine, which it shares with the Mini Cooper, and the hydrolastic suspension, making it very comfortable for such a small car.
It's had three owners before me, the first one for fourteen years, until he died and it was transferred to his son, who never used it and just stored it in a garage for twenty years. It was then rescued by the man I bought it from, who spent three years restoring it, before pottering around in it for the next thirteen years. It's now done just over 59, 000 miles, which I believe to be genuine.
Condition is generally excellent There are a few minor bubbles in the paintwork on the boot lid, but that's about it. Some of the varnish on the wooden dash has cracked, and the covering on the shelf under the dash is a bit messy. The seats are particularly good.
Mechanically it's sound, mainly because I've spent a couple of grand sorting out the bits that the last owner didn't get round to. Among other recent improvements it's got new plugs and leads, hoses, exhaust, battery, and tyres.
It comes with an MOT that's valid until the end of August next year, and as I'm sure you know the tax doesn't cost anything and the insurance is cheap. It's also exempt from charges in all UK Clean Air Zones, which would be handy if you work in a city centre.
