Description
This is a very special car, having been owned and maintained by phil robertson, the great alvis enthusiast and motor engineer from 1964 to his death over 50 years later. Everything he did has proved to be of the highest standard, and remarkably he rebuilt the car twice, including replacing timber bodywork framing and panelling when required (photos to show).
the car has been most carefully maintained and runs superbly well, with all instruments (except fuel gauge) working perfectly. Indicators have been discretely fitted.
this is a unique opportunity to buy a beautiful pre war, high quality classic in outstanding condition; Find on other to match this one!
the all original saloon coachwork is by cross and ellis, with a removable leather trunk by dunhill strapped onto the luggage grid. The exterior and interior are iconic mid 1930's, and glow with good health and the leather and wilton interior is a complete and classic 1930's period, patinated and with thoughtful details for driver and passengers. Huge sun roof.
the straight 6 cylinder, 2. 3 litre engine with three solex carburettors (plus a fourth starting carb) is sweet as a nut with and performs extremely well with masses of torque. The all-synchromesh 4- speed gearbox (a world first for alvis) makes driving easy and restful.
this car is capable of long trips and its reliability has been excellent. I have owned it for 3. 5 years, and ill health and advancing years now cause me to reduce my collection to a more manageable number. Serious enquiries always welcome
