About the vehicle:
This Packard immediately catches the eye with its bright miscolour - and there is a reason for that: this 1939 Packard 1703 Super Eight is not an ordinary upper class limousine of the American 1930s. On the contrary, it is the former Packard of the US dancer Dita von Teese. The vehicle was featured in several films and photographs of the burlesque star over many years, until it was sold to a German collector in 2013 by the passionate collector of pre-war classics. A series of pictures of the shootings with von Teese in her then Packard can be found in our gallery. After the import to Germany, the Super Eight was extensively serviced for over a year and the engine was rebuilt. Since October 2014, it has been registered for German road traffic with an H licence plate. At the Classic Gala Schwetzingen 2021, it received an award in the US Classic Car Concours D'Elegance.
The Packard Super Eight will be auctioned off as a charity auction in support of the victims of the flood disaster on the river Ahr. Part of the proceeds will be used to directly support families who have lost their homes and property. The Ahr-Automobil-Club 1924 e. V. is responsible for the administration on a voluntary basis, and the proceeds will be used to buy vehicles for the families. Now 3 months after the flooding, those affected are still severely limited in their mobility. Over 40, 000 cars were destroyed during the flood. The rural location without a car thus puts the affected people in an even more needy situation, so donated vehicles are a crucial help at the moment.
You can watch the auction of Dita von Teese's Packard live at Motorworld Cologne on 24. 10. 2021 between 10:00-15:00. Johannes Hübner will begin the presentation at 15:00. Admission is free.
