We are delighted to present for sale this high-specification Land Rover® Series 3, presented in Marine Blue colour scheme with Limestone Wheels. This is a very high specification vehicle, with many upgrades done to make the vehicle as usable as possible.
Externally, there are lots of desirable features – a bonnet mounted spare, free wheeling hubs to aid economy and axle wear, larger defender style door mirrors, rear grab handles, recent canvas, 750 tyres, wheel arch extenders and original galvanised cappings. The bodywork is straight than most we see at this age, and the paintwork is of a spray-type finish which is pleasing to see. In our opinion, we think the culmination of all these items makes for a very attractive Series Land Rover® indeed.
The interior houses 3 front deluxe seats, with seat belt bar and two outer front inertia seat belts. The vehicle is fitted with a full deluxe, heavy duty rubberised soundproofing kit – this protects against damage from boots and scratches, as well as giving a premium feel to the front cabin. Door cards complete the look and give a premium feel. The rear houses a pair of bench seats, with a load mat to the floor area to protect it. This means this Series can carry seven occupants including the driver, making it enjoyable for all the family.
Out on the road is where this Series 3 really shines, though – the combination of modern drivetrain upgrades mean that this Land Rover® is as modern as a Series can feel without cost-prohibitive enhancements. The 200DI engine (turbo removed) gives almost twice the power of the standard petrol unit, meaning getting to speed and maintaining it is much easier, and the overdrive gives the ability to increase fuel economy and reduce cabin intrusion when at higher speeds. The parabolic springs give an improved ride over standard, and the larger 750 size tyres also increase the gearing further, to maximise the additional power on offer. The added bonus of diesel injection and modern glow plugs mean that it is also far easier to start than a period machine. It delivers a driving experience more akin to later models because of this, which makes it somewhat of a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ when out on the tarmac!
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 Land Rover® which can be used more frequently than originally intended with the period models, then this could be for you. With classic insurance, as well as upcoming MOT & Tax Exemption in 2023/ 24, it should also be cost-effective to own in the longer term, too – and of course, the whole family can come along for the ride!
