Fantastic opportunity to acquire a classic 1980s Sixteener Yamaha DT50MX.
Came from a Scottish landowner who bought it new for his son in 1990. The bike was only used on the estate and has never been used on the road. The lights and indicators have been removed with the fairing being fibre glassed over where the lamp would be. In 32years the bike has only covered a mere 1700 miles.
The father actually had 2 sons and obviously couldn’t leave the other one out. Unbelievably I have the matching bike as well. Almost identical with one having a red seat and the other black. The second bike has even fewer miles on the clock 1600 miles.
The description of the bikes is the same, both in the same condition, as good as each other.
Start on the button, motors are lovely and crisp, still running the original autolube system. Frames are remarkable, original paint with no damage just some wear on the uprights. Rear swing arms have some surface rust but again not messed with. Forks have original paint with just a few marks on them. The black seat is unbelievable, no damage just a little wear on the logo. The red seat has a slight nick on the LHS but the rest is fantastic. Both bases are as new.
The wheels and hubs are fantastic. Chrome is brilliant and both bikes are running the original trail tyres with no cracking.
Both fuel tanks show signs of use with plenty of decent dents and scraps. The internal of both is again as new and both have the original paint and decals. I’m sure a good body guy could sort them out.
Exhausts are original and undamaged. Just some surface rust.
The wiring looms are complete and unmolested, even has the id labels attached. VIN and frame number are clearly visible with the headstock stickers intact.
Both are matching numbers bikes, I have the DVLA report and HPI check showing they have never been used on the road and are both 1 owner from new. V5s will need applying for but I can help with that, easy process.
A super rare opportunity to either keep original sort lights out and use on the road or restore and have a mint ultra low mileage bike. Personally, I’d keep original.
I would like the bikes to go together but would sell separately if enough interest in each bike.
These bikes need very little really. Head/ tail light, switchgear, indicators and fairings and you’re good to go. All on internet sites.
