1976 Mk2 Escort 1100L 2 Door Saloon for sale.
43, 000 Original miles from new.
Completely stock. Never had any paint or welding done.
Original Carnival Red paint, with patina.
I purchased the car from a lady who owned for over 25 years in Worthing, Sussex. The car was garaged, but never used. It is a real time warp car, untouched. Has castrol service stickers, Binatone radio, Webasto Sunroof, etc. I have previous MOTs and service paperwork.
Car runs and drives. I use it for shows most Sundays at North Weald Airfield. It is the nicest sounding x/ flow I’ve ever heard, runs like a sewing machine. All 45 horsepower.
Good points –
Completely original interior, in great condition (no speaker holes etc)
Genuine RS2000 4 spoke alloys (including a spare) diamond cut and painted by Alloy Art in Ford Dove Grey. Including RS centre caps.
New 185/ 15/ 65 tyres all round.
New front discs drilled, new M16 calipers and pads,
New rear brake cylinders, front wheel bearings, water pump, wipers.
New Mexico type wing mirrors.
Rare F. O. R. D front grill.
Engine and gearbox runs lovely with no noises. Doesn’t overheat in traffic.
Original top mounts showing the VIN number. Look ok.
Boot lid and bonnet decent.
Bad points –
Requires welding in the boot floor, both sides have holes.
Requires welding on the sills.
Hole in the N/ S quarter panel 10p size.
The car has scabbing all over the body from years of storage, it ideally wants repainting.
Rear bumper has a dent/ is bent.
Bottom of the doors have some holes inside.
Webasto sunroof mechanism seems to be stuck. But never looked at in detail.
Axle, prop leafs etc, all have surface rust, but function.
Under the bonnet needs tidying up.
All in all, a great original 1100L 2 door that requires restoration/ bodywork to make nice, but can be used with a little TLC. I use the car most weekends in the summer.
Ideal base for a rally car, or for a modified road car.
Genuine sale, due to storage limitations, as we want to convert our garage.
