Ford Escort Mk2 1600cc xflow 2dr with 4 speed manual gearbox. RHD
Recently imported from South Africa.
The car will need to be registered in the UK approx 4 weeks and we have all the correct paperwork/ SA logbook necessary to do this, we will supply pre-filled forms and it is a very simple process.
So here we have 2dr mk2 escort which originally was a 1. 3L but now has a 1600 sport xflow installed.
Someone has had a go at creating a replica sport but they only got as far as putting on some dodgy stickers, but has a 1600 sport engine and a 1600 sport facia on dashboard.
Car runs and drives fine, engine & gearbox is all good.
Underside is in good condition with no rust, chassis rails back to front are solid and front floors are solid but as usual spare wheel wells need attention.
Engine bay is tidy with no rust, wing rails, inner wings, strut tops, slam panel and heater bowl all good. Bottom of doors solid.
Both door posts are solid with no rust and are tidy.
Interior is your typical South African recovering job with rear seats and door cards recovered and 2 bucket seats.
Ignition barrel is an after market item and should be replaced with original type.
Paint work is okay but scruffy in places. No dents but looks as you would expect with a 40 yr old escort.
Overall this is a pretty solid escort and could easily be turned around into a nice fast road car but would also make a perfect base for a rally shell.
