Good solid, original example
Registered in May 1990, this W124 is a lovely and fair original example that hasn’t been messed around with. It has great potential, should the next owner want to improve upon a car which has been very well looked after.
The 260E is a rust free example that obviously led a very pampered early life, given the amount of times it visited Mercedes-Benz of Derby, often twice a year! The car tailed off in the last few years, being sparingly serviced/ MOT, where it was dry stored by the owners. I have photographs of the underneath (please ask)
The current speedo reads 31, 388 Miles, where it is documented in the service book that it had a genuine speedo change in 2003 at Mercedes-Benz. This is not an uncommon occurrence as they can break if you reset the trip-mileage whilst driving. It is, however, extremely rare a new unit is documented.
The car has had some recent works, to mention a new radiator and handbrake shoes. The majority of conveniences work, but there are common issues showing which can be attended to by the right enthusiast. There is a more updated radio/ bluetooth unit in place. The spare tool roll is present and a spare wheel.

The car runs very well indeed, on the road it is a fantastic W124, not sloppy and doesn’t have any issues with the gearbox. The car starts up well both hot and cold, goes into gear correctly and without hesitation or clunks, and drives away fine. Normal driving of this saloon is good, but could be improved upon.
This W124 had a healthy specification from new, making it quite a desirable old Mercedes to own.
240 Outside temperature indicator
280 Leather steering wheel and leather gear shift knob
300 Storage box in front tray
412 Electric sliding roof with tilting device
420 Automatic transmission 4-gear
430 Headrest in the rear, left and right
440 Tempomat (cruise control)
570 Folding armrest, front
584 Electric windows (front and rear)
600 Headlamp wiper/ washer
640 15-hole light alloy rims
The body work is again in good original condition. It has responded well to a good clean, but further improvements could be made. There are a scattering of minor marks/ dents/ scuffs as one would expect, but generally it is very good.
Notable imperfections on/ with the car:
Chip in N/ S headlight glass
Cruise control doesn’t work
Fan control/ height adjuster inoperative
Ash tray difficult to use (because of the new radio unit)
Centre console wood trim broken
Oil level light on (after MOT was done) (has had work done on this previous)
Due a major service
Alloys to be thoroughly cleaned/ refurbished
Small area of non structural corrosion on the N/ S/ R arch
The original plastic folder comes with the car, complete with the service books, some recent service work invoices, a couple of old MOTs, current V5, 3 x key
I have priced this car accordingly to what I believe is the correct value, with there being further works to carry out over time. The car is at a usable, driving stage where it can be enjoyed, and the next owner can improve upon it.
