I am sadly reducing my collection of Classic Mercedes Coupes and I reluctantly want to sell this lovely example.
Just 1 former keeper from new. The 1st owner kept the car for 35 Years.
The car comes with 1: Data Cards
2: Original service Book Stamped from new to 1981 with 11 stamps.
3: Parts Manual
4: owners Manual and Hand books and many receipts, including OLD mOTs.
COSMETICS
I have had a few of these w114 and this is by far the most complete. Unbelievably, original floors , engine bay and boot floors.
Can't explain how expensive it would to restore a car to this level would be. It would frankly be un economical to do it properly!
The car has been painted to a very good standard and there are some minor storage marks.
The hub caps are also in really good condition.
The Chromework on the car is exceptionally bright with hardly any pitting all around.
When I purchased the 250CE, it had issues with brakes and Choke, which have all been resolved and I have used the car happily over a few hundred miles.
OPTIONS:
The electric sunroof works as it should.
The car is also fitted with central locking, working.
All original spare keys are also working.
The car is of course fitted with power steering and brakes.
Interior
The seats are in the MB Tex which hardly show any wear. The carpets are original and the drivers foot well is good, but a cat must have played in there and has pulled some of the strings.
Door cards are straight and twisted. All the windows, wipers all work as they should.
MECHANICALLY
Thre car runs and drives very well and cruises at speed without any problems.
I have had the cold start valve and pressure regulator replaced, so starts from cold as it should.
The valve stem seals were all replaced and adjusted the valve clearances, makes such a differance to the smooth running of the engine.
All belts and some of the hoses replaced
The engine oil changed but is due another , since I have used it.
I think 1 injector may be lazy, I am planning to get this done. Only at idle, if it has been stood for a while.
The car has no OIL leaks and starts on the first turn.
I have a W111 280SE 3. 5 Coupe and I wish to keep this hence this and a few others have to go.
I am fully aware of the price of this and how cheap some of the others are, but if you appreciate quality and originality, then this is for you. If not, buy a cheap rust bucket to restore for 5 years. Sorry been there and done it.
These cars need to be driven, and I simply cant drive them all.
