The shell is solid, it's had blow ins over the years. I put a cover over it when I moved it outside for a couple of weeks to have some work done in the garage. This resulted in some patches on the paint going slightly pinker where the cover has marked it.
There are a couple of bubbles in front of the sunroof and there is a scab under each front indicator.
Underneath is solid, I had some welding done to the crossmember prior to the MOT. The sills, boot floor and inner wings are solid.
This drives really well. The suspension and bushes make it a very compliant ride and it's not crashy at all.
All of the interior and trim is there and complete on the car which is very rare for an XR2. It still even has the original jack, spotlights and towing eye cover which tend to go missing. It has a parcel shelf but the straps are missing.
When I bought the car the engine had pretty much just been thrown in and was just about running. I took it to Dan ST engineering who fitted the ME221 management and set the car up on the rolling road. The ME221 can run throttle bodies and that was where i was looking to go with it next.
When I had the new management fitted the temp sensor wasn't reconnected, I didn't bother taking it back as I intended to go back and get the throttle bodies fitted (there's a 80/ 90 fan switch fitted which kicks in as it should). Also the fuel gauge is very temperamental, currently it's not working.
To sum up a presentable solid car you could use every day or take to the next level if you wanted to.
