1963 MGB Superb early production car to original specification
XUD 302 was registered on the 20th of May 1963, just 8 months into MGB production making it a very early and therefore sought after model. The car has original overdrive, steel wheels, and folding hood. The car was registered to a Director at MG Sports who fitted an additional radiator fan for hot weather and a wind up blind on the radiator for cold weather, both still present.
The car passed to its second owner in 1989, who over the succeeding years had it restored to concours level by Fisher MG Services at a cost of over £15, 000. Once the restoration was complete, XUD 302 went on to win various concours awards including first place in the MG Owners Club Concours in 1996 and first place in the Bexhill Festival of Motoring in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1998. The standard of restoration work was extremely high, as is still evident 30 years later, much of the car being almost as new.
The second owner in turn passed the car to his son, who spent £3, 500 on maintenance during his ownership, though using the car little. Since then the car has had an extensive cosmetic revision to bring it back to a top standard, notably a bare metal respray in its original Old English White.
Notable features of XUD 302 are its original bodyshell, correct 3-bearing 18G engine, original overdrive, period auxiliary fan and radiator blind, heater, excellent folding hood and hood and cockpit covers, original jack and tools, and original pre-suffix registration. As a correct early car it has pull door handles, aluminium bonnet, rubber floor mats and correct rubber sill trim.
XUD 302 runs and drives faultlessly and is ready to be driven away and enjoyed immediately. The car presents very well and has all the charm of a very early pull handle car.
